About the Members' Assistance Program

What:
The Members' Assistance Program is designed to provide union members, widows and family members with dignified, confidential and professional assistance without jeopardizing job security. With a "broad brush" approach, our Members' Assistance Program not only addresses problems related to drug and alcohol dependency, but also offers assistance with areas such as Marital, Family, Financial, Gambling, Veteran Affairs, Stress, Critical Incident Stress, etc.

Why:
The Trustees realize that its most important resource is its members. Members may experience problems that affect their lives and their work. Members' Assistance Program was established to help its members overcome some of these problems by providing access to the appropriate services.

Who:
Raymond J. Pingitore, MS. has experience in the field of Alcohol & Drug Abuse. He is certified in critical incident stress management/ group crisis intervention. Ray is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Alcohol Problem

  • In house Assessment & Referral
  • Outpatient Counseling
  • Intensive Outpatient Treatment
  • Inpatient Treatment
  • Follow-up with MEMBERS' ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Drug Dependency

  • In house Assessment & Referral
  • Outpatient Counseling
  • Intensive Outpatient Treatment
  • Inpatient Treatment
  • Follow-up with MEMBERS' ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Stress

  • Outpatient & Inpatient Treatment
  • Psychological and Psychiatric Referrals

In addition, we also offer assistance dealing with problems:

Marital, Gambling, Financial, Legal, Veteran Affairs, Substance Abuse Professional Evaluations from Department of Transportation.

Services are provided on a STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL basis for all members, widows and family members. Referrals are made to qualified professionals who are union friendly.

Referral Process

Self-referral
Member would contact MEMBERS' ASSISTANCE PROGRAM directly for an appointment: (401) 467-3323.

Voluntary Supervisor Referral
Voluntary Supervisor Referral could be when a member confides in Business Agent or Steward with a personal problem.

Mandated Referral
Mandated Referral could be a positive drug or alcohol DOT test, or a referral before job discipline, Substance Abuse Professional Evaluations from Department of Transportation.

However the referral occurs, members and their families are assured of COMPLETE CONFIDENTIALITY.
